Causes of global warming
Because of human activities such as burning fossil fuels, and deforestation. The concentration of greenhouse gases has increased. Most of human activities pollute the environment, oil, coal, gas, all polluting industries producing carbon dioxide. Which led to imbalance cutting of trees and vegetation cover.
1. Burning fossil fuels
When we burn fossil fuels like coal and gas to generate electricity or power our cars, we release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Australians are the biggest producers of CO2 pollution compared to the rest of the world. Electricity generation is the main cause of carbon pollution in Australia, with 73% of our electricity coming from burning coal and 13% from burning gas. Renewable energy sources such as hydro, solar, and wind energy come from the remaining 14% of which are non-carbon emitting.Large coal-fired power station in the UK with a razor wire in front © Global Warming Images / WWF
Solution:
Reduce the amount of electricity generated from coal and gas
Increase the amount of electricity generated from clean, renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power
Join the movement for stronger action on climate change and urge Australia's top politicians to get us back on track to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement.
2. Deforestation and deforestation
Plants and trees play an important role in regulating the climate by absorbing carbon dioxide from the air and releasing oxygen into it. Forests and jungles act as carbon sinks and are a valuable means of keeping global warming to 1.5°C.
But humans are clearing vast areas of vegetation around the world for agricultural and urban development and infrastructure, or to sell tree products such as timber and palm oil. When vegetation is removed or burned, the stored carbon is released into the atmosphere as carbon dioxide, contributing to global warming.
Up to one fifth of global greenhouse gas pollution comes from deforestation and forest degradation.

Solution:
Prevent deforestation and forest degradation
Plant more trees through reforestation and afforestation
sustainable procurement
We call on our leaders to enact stricter laws to stop excessive deforestation
3. Agriculture and livestock
Animals and livestock such as sheep and cattle produce methane, which is a greenhouse gas. Where livestock graze on a large scale, as in Australia, the amount of methane produced has contributed significantly to global warming.
Some that farmers use also release nitrous oxide, another greenhouse gas.
Australian agriculture contributes 16% of total greenhouse gas emissions.

Solution
Using different feeds can help reduce agriculture's contribution to climate change
WWF is working with leading beef producers through Project Pioneer to develop, test and validate improved livestock and pasture management that can generate significant economic, social and environmental gains.
